Anthony Bourdain — Beneath the Surface

A collage tribute to Anthony Bourdain, designed in two states: a concealed version, where only fragments show through torn holes in mustard paper, and the full composition beneath. The animation connects the two. The paper tears open to reveal the whole piece, then closes again.

The collage brings together archival photography of Bourdain from his early kitchen years to his later life on the road, layered with cutlery, food, hand-cut typography and signs from his past, like the Lobster Pot in Provincetown.
